As a Belgian citizen, Sam graduated at the University of Antwerp where he obtained his Master in Product Design in 1997. In 2006 he took an Advanced Communications Management course in the University of Antwerp and in 2007-2008 he followed a Middle Management Program at Vlerick Management School.
Sam started working for Atlas Copco in 1997 as engineering designer at the Portable Energy Division. In January 2000 he became divisional internet coordinator in the same division. In 2002 he moved into training by starting up and guiding e-learning initiatives globally for the Atlas Copco as the Group e-learning program manager.
From 2004 till 2011, Sam was responsible for all the marketing communications of the Atlas Copco Portable Energy division. As Divisional Communications Manager he took the lead in product launches, events, press releases, product documentation and other marketing related communication.
As of January 2011 Sam has accepted the challenge to develop the used equipment business as one of the 5 pillars of the Atlas Copco Portable Energy Division. 3 years after launching a new Used Equipment business strategy dedicated to selling premium and certified refurbished portable compressors and generators, the business had quadrupled.
Begin 2014, he left the Atlas Copco group to join the innovation agency Verhaert, where he currently is responsible to develop the TechTrans innovation cel. This cel help companies to find and implement innovations based on technology assets. The Belgian Space Technology Transfer program from ESA is part of the responsibility. As a consultant he helps organizations to innovate by creating new products and business in parallel.
